Smart Toy for disable Children.
Smart Toy
for disable Children.
Literature Review for the Project.
Main Project Idea.
Our main
target audience is the children with genetic conditions which causes delays in
physical and intellectual development. Our final product is a toy car which can
identify the objects around it when it s moving and clearly pronounced its name
with help of cloud base application and mobile app.
Build a toy
which can really helpful to develop the genetic neuron disabilities by reading
and hearing the names of the things around them is our purpose of final
outcome.
Key ideas drawn
from a range of sources and described with and appropriate level of detail.
Children
with Down syndrome are usually smaller, and their physical and mental
developments are slower compared to children who are unaffected. The majority
of children with Down syndrome have mild to moderate intellectual disability.
However while some show no sign of having an intellectual disability others may
have severe intellectual disability.
Although
individuals with Down syndrome have distinct physical characteristics,
generally they are more similar to the average person in the community than
they are different.
Not every
child with Down syndrome has all the characteristics; some may only have a few,
and others may show most of the signs of Down syndrome. Some of the physical
features in children include flattening of the back of the head, slanting of
the eyelids, small skin folds at the inner corner of the eyes, depressed nasal
bridge, slightly smaller ears, small mouth, decreased muscle tone, loose
ligaments, and small hands and feet. About fifty percent of all children have one
line across the palm, and there is often a gap between the first and second
toes.
An
increasing number of children with Down syndrome are being diagnosed as also
having autism or autistic spectrum disorder (ASD). Research is exploring the
prevalence and the characteristics of autism and autistic spectrum disorders in
people with Down syndrome, and informing more reliable diagnosis. More research
is needed to better understand these dual diagnoses and to identify effective
ways to support development and learning for these children.
There have
been a number of recent studies reporting varying rates of autism among
children with Down syndrome possibly because of different diagnostic measures
and different numbers of children in the studies. These suggest that about
16-19% of children with Down syndrome also have ASD and some 8-9% have autism,
although some indicate higher rates.
Diagnosis of
ASD is based on symptoms in three domains: social impairments, communication
impairments and repetitive behaviors and should only be carried out by
experienced clinicians using standardized assessments.
A recent UK
study with the largest sample of children with Down syndrome and ASD evaluated
to date (183 participants) illustrates this. On the Reciprocal Social
Interaction Domain, children with Down syndrome and ASD showed less impairment
in eye gaze, social smiling, shared enjoyment, offering comfort, social
overtures and response to other children 's social approaches.
Research
suggests that parents and practitioners should make full use of the children' s
social strengths and strengths in imitation and gesture to develop their social
interaction and communication skills in the early years.
By taking
care of all of this conditions and comparisons we planed to develop our toy to
full fill such a important need of those children. Letting them to see the
object when the car interacting with the object by hitting the object their
mind will sharply identify what they dealing with. Meanwhile by the car is
pronouncing the name of the object clearly with its owns speakers child will
properly identify the incident (how should we called the object).
When child
is play with this toy in his house, with those speaking and hitting activity
child will clearly memories to identify the object with there correct names. So
this scenario will really helpful to get to know about usual objects which
around them.
Some Products already in the market for those children .
Children with special needs or learning difficulties often
have difficulties with communication. Some children require speech and language
therapy to improve, and others need greater intervention and perhaps the
addition of some form of communication system or device.
However,
no matter what the level of communication difficulty, there are many ways to
help most children to communicate more effectively. Even children with profound
difficulties have the potential to increase their levels of communication,
allowing them to initiate, respond and make choices.
In our
project with the connection between the device and the mobile app, Parents of
the child can interact with the device and control the device by asking the
questions and making the selections after the child play with the toy several
times. Because when the child had some image in their mind after play with the
toy, about names of the objects and how to pronounce & identify them,
parents can make the toy to speak for asking the questions like “what is this object”
right after the toy is hit the same object in several times.
